Fourth Grade Teacher
Hello, I’m Laura Terry, one of the fourth-grade teachers at Holy Family. I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Tulsa. I’ve been married for thirty-two years to my husband, Steve. I have two grown sons. One of my sons lives in Chicago and the other lives in Broken Arrow. We all share a love for traveling, with St. Augustine, Florida becoming a yearly vacation spot for my husband and me. Although I am an ardent fan of OU, I actually graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. I received my Master's Degree from the University of Tulsa. It’s hard to believe I’m starting my thirty-ninth year of teaching this fall. I began my career in Tulsa Public Schools, where I taught for ten years. After moving to Broken Arrow, I continued teaching for an additional twenty-five years before retiring. My retirement lasted two months when the opportunity to teach here opened up to me. This is my fourth year here at Holy Family, and I’m very happy to be a member of the faculty here. My teaching philosophy is that every child can learn; it’s just a matter of finding the key to unlocking the door to that learning. With that in mind, my classroom is a lively place where students learn from hands-on activities, classroom discussions, and a place where it is safe to make a guess or state your opinion without fear of being made fun of by other students or the teacher.
