Tardies: Affecting Learning for All

Ms. Videll has noticed a great increase of tardies lately and is concerned about how that is negatively affecting the learning experience and environment for all of our students. When a child is late to school, not only are they missing out on valuable instruction time, but it is a disruption to their routine and then a disruption to all of the students who arrived to school on time as that tardy child enters the classroom. Tardiness has negative effects on all of our students, even if they arrived on time.

For the benefit of all of our students and teachers, we urge you to help your child get to school on time. There are some strategies to prevent tardiness listed in the articles below.

Important Parent Volunteer Information

All volunteers for school events must complete VIRTUS training requirements and background check per the diocesan policy, which you can view in part below.

All field trip drivers, all Walk-A-Thon volunteers, all cafeteria volunteers, and all volunteers attending anything sponsored by the school or church involving the kids, must have the required volunteer paperwork on file and be approved.

Please don't wait until the last minute get your training completed.

If you do not get your VIRTUS training and volunteer packet completed before your volunteer date, you will not be allowed to volunteer, which can include not being allowed to attend a field trip as a chaperone, per diocesan policy

II. PROCEDURES FOR PROTECTING MINORS FROM SEXUAL ABUSE
1. VIRTUS Requirement
In adherence to Article 12 of the Charter, the Diocese of Tulsa and VIRTUS provide a web-based online training program in English and Spanish that specializes in helping churches and religious organizations create safe environments for children and youth. VIRTUS is mandatory for all employees and Covered Volunteers who have or could have substantial contact with children. No employee or Covered Volunteer may partake in any Church ministry or function without first completing the mandatory VIRTUS program and receiving confirmation and clearance to serve by their Local Administrator.

Teacher Wishlists

We often have teachers or classes that need additional supplies for special projects, experiments, or enrichment that are not covered with our normal supply budget. We also sometimes have special needs for skills such as building items for the resource room, repairing items, painting etc...

All donations or time spent doing repairs to the school or classroom can be claimed as Time & Talent- which is due in less than two weeks on Friday, October 19.

Substitute Teachers Needed

Each school year, we try to build up our substitute teacher list. Click here to find information on requirements and compensation. If you know someone in our community who may be interested, please pass on the information. Contact Ms. Saleta Videll, 918-582-0422, if you have any questions.

Walk-A-Thon Partners

Thank you to our partners for investing in our school, teachers, students, and families! We could not offer the level of fine arts and sciences education that we expect without your generous donations! Click on a partner’s logo to learn about their business.

Campus Ministry

Foolish Things Coffee + Campus Ministry Fundraiser

Thank you so much to everyone that showed up at Foolish Things Coffee today to support our Campus Ministry! I typed this newsletter from the comfort of their warm coffee shop and I enjoyed seeing many of our students, families, and staff supporting our school and showing some love to one of our favorite neighbors!

Join us at Wednesdays at the Cathedral!

The weekly Wednesdays at Cathedral program was born out of a desire for every Catholic to more fully grasp the beauty of his faith and to grow a sense of community among parishioners and our school family. Weekly activities include a mixture of live speakers, engaging video series, faith sharing opportunities and feast day celebrations.

Off campus activities are also a regular part of our quarterly schedule, gathering for service opportunities or participating in Diocesan events. These family activities have included working side-by-side tilling and planting gardens at Catholic Charities, serving the working poor of Downtown Tulsa through Night Light Tulsa, and walking in procession praying for the souls of the faithful departed at Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Spoerl would like to invite our school community to join in this weekly faith and community formation each Wednesday evening that includes Mass, dinner, Eucharistic Adoration, and faith formation. Childcare is also provided if the formation activity is not appropriate for the age of your child.

Events are added and updated on our events page as information becomes available, or you can access information on the Holy Family Cathedral website and/or Facebook page.
