This Weekend in Tulsa: August 31-September 2

These fourth grade and preschool students took advantage of the shade and scenery of Downtown Tulsa as they read books about artists. Now that it's the weekend, we want to encourage you to take advantage of what Downtown Tulsa, and beyond, has to offer to you!

Friday, August 31

It seems to be a pretty calm evening around Tulsa tonight. Take this time to go on a walk in your neighborhood, stroll through downtown and admire the architecture, or lounge at Guthrie Green while the kids play. I think all of Tulsa is dreaming of the grand opening of The Gathering Place this weekend, and I'm sure you'll do the same.

For later in the evening, we always suggest Burger Night at Philbrook Museum for dinner. You can even stroll through their gardens and galleries, admiring the beauty that's around you.

Saturday, September 1

Hello September! It's hard to believe that a new month is already here. To start off this new month, we recommend heading to a Double Slice of the Tulsa Flea Market and Last Flea of the Season, which will be open Saturday and Sunday. Taking kiddos to the flea market is like a huge interactive history lesson, made even better by being surrounded by multiple generations- so invite the grandparents!

After that, we recommend checking out three local markets happening this weekend: the Tulsa Farmers Market on Cherry Street, the Greenwood Farmers Market, or the Kendall Whittier Mercado, where local maker Tiny Things by Bowen will be and selling her adorable, hand-crafted tiny things.

Our friends over at Safari Joe's will be kicking off their three-day Safari Splash Block Party! There are rumors of lots of fun events, plus incredible discounts on 2019 season passes.

In the midst of all of this excitement, don't forget to eat! Right now we are loving Jane's Delicatessen for every single meal, but especially brunch. You don't want to miss their as-big-as-your-head cinnamon rolls (not kidding), their latkes, or their blintzes. If you go for a meal other than brunch, you must get one of their amazing sandwiches and their mac and cheese, but you really can't go wrong, no matter what you order. It's all so good!

Sunday, September 2

Join us for Mass at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, or 5:00 PM at the cathedral.

After Mass, don't forget about the regularly-scheduled Sunday art activities at Ahha, Studio Sundays and Open Studio Hours, and the Drop-In Studio at the Gilcrease Museum.

Monday, September 3: Labor Day!

There will be no school on Monday! Enjoy the day off with your family, as we all certainly will. We will see you all on Tuesday!
