This Weekend in Tulsa: September 7-9

We would be absolutely lying if we said that this weekend is not special, long-awaited, or monumental for Tulsa. This weekend, the George Kaiser Family Foundation is giving one of the greatest gifts to Tulsa, the Gathering Place. Our kindergarten through third grade students had the opportunity to preview a very small portion of the park this spring, but we cannot wait to explore everything that this new Tulsa landmark has to offer.

In light of the grand opening of the Gathering Place, our list of things to do this weekend is rather short!

Friday, September 7

Since the Gathering Place is not yet open, we recommend going to the First Friday Art Crawl in the Tulsa Arts District, located just a few blocks north of the school. On the first Friday of every month, the museums and galleries of the Tulsa Arts District open with no cost to the public. It is a wonderful event to explore the rich art community of Tulsa and to support our downtown businesses.

Saturday, September 8

This is the day! The day that we have been waiting four years for has finally arrived! The Gathering Place will open at 10:00 AM, with a grand parade at 8:30 AM. There will be 100 days of opening activities, so check out their website to plan your visit, and go visit this remarkable gift to Tulsa!

Sunday, September 9

Start off your day with Mass at the Cathedral, then you can head to the Gathering Place again!

Obviously, we are so thrilled about the opening of the Gathering Place that we think you should spend as much time there as possible! To get you excited, here are a few images from our visit there this spring. If you go to the Gathering Place this weekend and share your pictures on Facebook or Instagram, please tag them with #welovehfcs so that we can see how our students and families are interacting in our community!
